Seyran Ohanyan meets with Armenian peacekeepers in Lebanon
Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan, who is paying an official visit to Lebanon, visited the headquarters of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and met with Major General Luciano Portolano (Italy), Head of Mission and Commander of Force, the press service of Armenian Defense Ministry reports.
The two discussed issues related to the service of the Armenian peacekeepers in the UNIFIL, Armenia’s participation in international peacekeeping missions, increasing the number of Armenian peacekeepers in Lebanon and other issues of mutual interest.
Further, the Armenian delegation visited the military base in Shama, met with Armenian peacekeepers and familiarized with their service conditions and tasks. Seyran Ohanyan highlighted the Armenian peacekeepers’ mission under the United Nations auspices and thanked them for their service.
Armenia’s Defense Minister also met with representatives of the Armenian community in Lebanon. Issues related to the strengthening of Armenia-Diaspora ties were discussed.
