Serzh Sargsyan: Only leaders like Pope Francis are able to keep the world free of genocides
“Only those leaders are able to keep the world away from genocides who appreciate the moral values and prioritize them over geopolitical interests, as Pope Francis does. A genocide not recognized is a peril for the entire humankind,” shortly after the holy mass at the St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide President Serzh Sargsyan shared his impressions in an interview to Italian public television network RAI.
The President of Armenia highly appreciated the Pope’s position of “calling things by their names” in another interview to the Associated Press, adding that “The words of the leader of a church with one billion followers cannot but have a strong impact.”
