Hraparak: Amnesty is delayed until May
The amnesty, initially planned to be declared in Armenia by April 24, is delayed. The authorities intend to reschedule it to May, Hraparak reports.
The arrest of Founding Parliament members derailed the earlier plans, the newspaper notes. If the amnesty is declared by April 24, it will also apply to Zhirayr Sefilyan and his friends, the newspaper says, adding that this is not to the liking of the authorities as the civil activists were arrested so as not to “spoil” the April 24 commemoration events.
The newspaper’s sources say that the amnesty will be declared in early May.
