Hraparak: Turkish FM urgently leaves for Washington
The Armenian Embassy and community in Washington are seriously pressing the Obama administration to recognize the Armenian Genocide, Hraparak reports.
Yesterday it became known that Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu urgently left for Washington together with a several hundred-member delegation. Ahead of the Armenian Genocide centenary, he has been invited to Washington by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry. Why Cavusoglu was invited to Washington at this time is obvious, but it is also obvious that the Turkish government is under time pressure.
According to Hraparak, during the visit Cavusoglu will hold meetings in the Department of State, Congress, Senate as well as in the leading political institutions, and will attempt to push forward Turkey’s denialist policy and urge Washington not to use the word “genocide” on April 24.
