Lebanese MP: It is time to act, not only to demand
“I have no Armenian relatives, but I am proud of you. In 1915 Lebanon received a great number of refugees who found shelter in Lebanon. They are very active and we all are proud of them. They not only survived the genocide, but also showed that survivors can be creators,” Member of Lebanese Parliament Ghasan Mukhayber said at the International Social and Political Global Forum against the Crime of Genocide in Yerevan.
He noted that the half of Lebanon’s Parliament Members are Muslim and stressed that the Parliament unanimously recognized the Armenian Genocide in 2000.
“I am proud of my country. Tomorrow Lebanon’s schools will be closed and a march will be held in Beirut,” the lawmaker noted.
In his words, it is time to act and not only to demand. “We must be active in the prevention, not only of future crimes against humanity, but also the current ones,” Mukhayber said.
