Turkish TV airs Tsitsernakaberd events instead of Gallipoli commemorations
An extraordinary incident occurred during a live broadcast by the Turkish TV channel CNBC on April 24.
For still unknown reasons, during the live coverage of the Battle of Gallipoli centenary events, live broadcast of Armenian Genocide centenary commemorations in Tsitsernakaberd, Yerevan, went on air.
According to Ermenihaber.am, as the presenter spoke about the events commemorating the 100th anniversary of the victory in the Battle of Gallipoli, the Armenian Genocide commemoration ceremony was being aired, showing Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan meeting the visitors approaching the Eternal Flame at the Armenian Genocide Memorial Tsitsernakaberd.
Only at the end of the broadcast, the Gallipoli commemorations were shown.
The incident caused a stir in Turkey, with media describing it as a “scandalous mistake” by CNBC.
