Armenian government approves concept of probation service
The Armenian government on Thursday approved the concept of probation service.
According to the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Justice, as part of the concept, state probation service is planned to be created under the Ministry.
The concept’s main aim is to reduce recidivism and ensure security of society.
Probation applies to community sentences (alternatives to incarceration). Probation releases a defendant back into the community, but the defendant does not have the same level of freedom as a normal citizen.
