Sis Catholicosate will be returned – Ara Papyan
The Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia waited until the Armenian Genocide centenary to raise the issue of returning the Sis Catholicosate, political analyst, head of Modus Vivendi Center Ara Papyan told reporters on Friday.
In his words, raising this matter at this time was a right decision.
“In all probability, the Catholicosate will be returned as there is a full legal package,” he said.
“At the same time, it is possible that the issue will not be resolved in Turkish courts and will be transferred to the European Court of Human Rights,” the analyst noted.
According to him, the European Court of Human Rights cannot refer to the Armenian Genocide, and can acknowledge a legal person’s unlawful deprivation of his property.
“This is important as a move towards restoration of justice. This may become a precedent for the Sis Catholicosate to return the other churches,” the expert stressed.
