Armenian PM: May 9 is symbol of solidarity, national spirit and sense of dignity
Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan issued a congratulatory message on the Victory and Peace Day.
The message reads as follows:
Dear compatriots!
I cordially congratulate you on the occasion of Victory and Peace Day.
Today we are marking the 70th anniversary of victory over fascism in the Great Patriotic War. The victorious completion of World War II opened up new opportunities for building a peaceful and prosperous future, and the Armenian people made a valuable contribution to it.
Thousands of Armenians sacrificed their lives to restore peace in the world, and it is also thanks to our fathers and grandfathers that the world is safe from the threat of fascism today.
May 9 is the symbol of solidarity, national spirit and sense of dignity. Today we are also celebrating the 23th anniversary of Shushi liberation. Following up on their ancestors’ heroic deeds, our brave sons restored historical justice in 1992 as they liberated Shushi, which used to be Armenia’s cultural capital throughout many centuries.
Dear compatriots!
Reiterating my congratulations on these glorious victories, I wish robust health and long life to Great Patriotic War and Shushi liberation veterans.
Eternal glory to those heroes who sacrificed their lives for those victories!
