Texas prepares for upcoming severe weather conditions
Measures have been undertaken to tackle severe storms expected to impact parts of the US state of Texas next week, Texas Governor Greg Abbott said in a press release, Sputnik reported.
“Ensuring the safety of Texans is paramount, and the state stands ready to provide support to our local leaders as this weather system moves through our state,” Abbott said on Friday.
Abbott warned residents of the potential dangers of flash flooding, damaging winds and hail, as well as the possibility of tornadoes. He urged residents to closely monitor changing weather conditions and officials’ precautions, the release read.
Texas, but also Kansas and Nebraska, have been hit by strong winds and heavy rains, which struck the US West on Wednesday.
The US National Weather Service issued more than 50 tornado and 80 hail reports for the central states.
One of the tornadoes hit a mobile home park in Oklahoma City, injuring 13 people, according to local media reports.
