Iranian FM calls on Turkey to refrain from provocations and respect countries’ sovereignty
Turkish Prime Minister’s crossing into the territory of Syria is a very dangerous step for the region, the spokesperson for the IRI Foreign Ministry, Marzieh Afkham, said, according to the Iranian news agency ISNA.
BBC says Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has crossed briefly into Syria to visit the historic tomb of the Suleyman Shah, the grandfather of the founder of the Ottoman empire.
Referring to the step of the Turkish Prime Minister, the official representative of the Iranian Foreign Office said, “The Islamic Republic of Iran highlights that the countries’ sovereignty should be respected. The step of the Prime Minister of Turkey is very dangerous for the region and it can result in a more complicated situation. Turkey must refrain from provocations and respect the countries’ sovereignty.”
