Renowned actress Svetlana Grigoryan died one year ago on this day
Today, May 12, marks one year since the death of beloved Armenian theater actress Svetlana Grigoryan.
For more than 60 years, Svetlana Grigoryan made the audience laugh and created characters which will forever remain in the spectators’ memory.
Svetlana Grigoryan was born on 30 September 1930 in Yerevan.
Grigoryan performed onstage from the age of 13. After graduating from Yerevan Institute of Fine Arts and Theater, she was invited to Hakob Paronyan Musical Comedy Theater of Yerevan.
Grigoryan was well known for comedy roles at Paronyan State Theater of Musical Comedy.
In 2011, the President of Armenia awarded Grigoryan the "First Degree Medal “For Services to Homeland” for "her considerable contributions to development of theatrical arts, for her high acting skills and for creating permanent characters." She also received the Hakob Meghapart Medal for her services, and on the occasion of her 80th birthday. She was also awarded the title People's Artist of Armenia.
She died at the age of 83 on 12 May 2014.
