Artsakh to host Toot Festival
The first Toot Festival of Artsakh will be organized on June 27 in the territory of Amaras monastery.
All the products made from mulberry – mulberry vodka, doshab (curing jam made with mulberry), raisins of mulberry and kinds of mulberry jam will be introduced in the pavilions including participants from 7 regions of Artsakh and from Armenia. In addition, you can see the whole process of traditional doshab making and the culture of mulberry vodka distilling.
Mulberry and the products made with it have always been very important for Artsakhians, the witness of it are numerous mulberry gardens spread all over Artsakh. The organizers of the festival will try their best to present the whole sense of this good of nature during the whole festival. During the festival, you can take part in traditional games, competitions of shaking mulberry trees and many other entertainment events.
Cultural program is also going to be abundant and very interesting. During the whole festival, the visitors can listen to traditional Armenian and contemporary songs and music. In the corner of art, the visitors can get acquainted with the works of talented Artsakhian painters, masters and potters. The art of silk processing will also be presented at the festival.
The main aims of the organization of Toot Festival are to develop tourism in the region, to support local production, to promote Artsakh cuisine and to activate the cultural life in the regions as well.
The organizers of the festival are NKR government's department of tourism and historical environment protection and Areni Festival Fund, reports the department’s press service.
