Moscow court to check lawfulness of Levon Hayrapetyan’s house arrest
On May 25, the Moscow City Court will check the lawfulness of house arrest of Russian-Armenian businessman and benefactor Levon Hayrapetyan, Anna Fadeeva, a representative of the court, told RIA Novosti.
With the investigator’s petition, Hayrapetyan must be under house arrest until July 28, but his lawyers appealed this decision.
Levon Hayrapetyan was arrested on July 15, 2014 on embezzlement and money laundering charges.The arrest took place as part of an ongoing investigation conducted by the Russian Investigatory Committee into the activities of one of the local criminal groups. On July 24, the Investigation Committee of Russia brought charges against Levon Hayrapetyan for embezzlement (Article 160) and money laundering (Article 174).
