Yerevan hosting EHEA Ministerial Conference and Fourth Bologna Policy Forum
European Higher Education Area (EHEA) Ministerial Conference and Fourth Bologna Policy Forum opened at Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concerts Complex of Yerevan on Thursday.
About 500 participants from 47 countries and international organizations, including 20 education ministers, are attending the event.
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan made opening remarks. Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan conducted the opening session.
Ashotyan said in his opening remarks that three years ago in Bucharest European Ministers of Education unanimously voted for Yerevan to become the 9th capital of the European Higher Education Area.
“I hope the Yerevan conference will become a historical event,” Ashotyan said, adding that the decisions and documents adopted in Yerevan will have an important influence on the development of European educational system.
“The Bologna Process, with all its problems and challenges, is a success. This is a unique project bringing together 47 countries,” the Armenian Minister said.
“The European educational system is facing many challenges and today we have gathered here in Yerevan to find solutions to the existing problems,” the Minister said.
