Economist: Bid on electricity price hike unjustified
The bid on increasing the electricity tariffs the Electric Networks of Armenia submitted to the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) is not justified, economist Tatul Manaseryan told Panorama.am.
In his words, Armenia has the necessary resources that can enable even to reduce the electricity tariffs.
“I think the expenditures included in the electricity cost are not justified and they need to be examined,” the economist noted.
Referring to the Heliofication Project, which was launched by Paris Heruni and is being continued by Professor Vahan Hamazaspyan, Manaseryan said, “According to our calculations, in case of this project’s implementation the demand for electricity may decrease twofold, particularly in villages.”
