3 charged by Germany with spying for Turkey
Federal prosecutors say they have charged two Turks and a German with spying on Kurdish minorities and other critics of the Turkish government living in Germany, The Associated Press reports.
Prosecutors said in a statement Thursday that Turks Mohammad Taha G., 58, and Ahmet Duran Y., 59, and German Goksel G., 34, are suspected of collecting information on the German residents between February 2013 and December 2014 and providing it to a Turkish secret service.
Their last names were not provided in line with German privacy laws.
Prosecutors say Muhammed Taha G. has been in custody since his arrest on December 17 but the others remain free for the time being.
It was not immediately clear when they would stand trial.
