CEC chairman says cannot speak about date of referendum on constitutional amendments
Central Electoral Commission of Armenia chairman Tigran Mukuchyan told reporters at the National Assembly that he cannot speak about the date of a referendum on constitutional amendments as this is beyond the scope of his powers.
“When the date of the referendum is appointed, the Central Electoral Commission will carry out the actions prescribed by the law,” he said.
As regards possible amendments to the Electoral Code, Mukuchyan said it will be possible only when the finalized package of constitutional amendments is ready.
International organizations presented proposals to make amendments to the Electoral Code during the previous national elections and it is supposed that these proposals will be discussed, he said.
