Mass grave with remains of 80 Yazidis found in Iraq
The Iraqi Ministry of Human Rights announced on Monday the discovery of a mass grave containing the remains of 80 Yazidis in one of the villages west of Nineveh province, Shafaq News reports.
The ministry said in a statement received by Shafaq News that the mass grave was found by local residents in al-Jadaa village containing the remains of 80 Yazidis of different ages.
The ministry noted that the activists in the field of human rights and researchers told the ministry about the cemetery.
ISIS organization which is known for committing atrocities against minorities controlled Nineveh province and other areas in the north and west of the country when led a massive assault last summer.
In subsequent months, ISIS extended in areas inhabited by minority Yazidis in Sinjar district west of Nineveh as militants committed massacres against the population of the region who regard them as "infidels and Satanists," according to reports from local and international human rights.
The reports also said that the militants abducted hundreds of Yazidi girls and women and took them as slaves.
