Disgraced diplomat hunted in Azerbaijan and quickly discovered to have ‘Armenian blood’
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev withdrew Eynulla Madatli from the post of the Azerbaijani ambassador to Ukraine and of the permanent representative at GUAM. There are no reports about the reasons for the ambassador’s withdrawal. However, it coincided with one of the outlets publishing yet another “sensational” article about almost antigovernment conspiracy in the depths of the Foreign Ministry, Turan agency writes.
According to Turan, the representative of the Organization of the Islamic Conference at the European Union, diplomat Arif Mammadov’s Facebook status happened to be what gave it a “ground.” He rather emotionally blamed the officials for the death of people during the May 19 fire at the multi-story residential building in Baku. The diplomats who had liked the status were also been counted as “rioters.” Anar Madatli, a representative of the Azerbaijani diplomatic mission in Brussels and son of the ambassador to Kiev, was among them.
“Working for years as the head of the Azerbaijani delegation in the EU, Permanent Representative in the Council of Europe, and currently as representative in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Arif Mammadov showed disrespect towards the Azerbaijani people. That is why he must be immediately recalled from his post,” deputy executive secretary of the ruling party Yeni Azerbaijan, Siyavush Novruzov, told news agency APA.
He said a real Azerbaijani cannot insult the Azerbaijanis, his country and his people. “He has Armenian blood. He says that ‘he has grown old during his three-day stay in Azerbaijan.’ If someone drives an expensive car costing more than 100 thousand euros, sends his children to expensive schools, spends his family holidays at various recreation centers and gets his salary from the state - for 20 years at the state expense and at the expense of the taxes the Azerbaijani citizens pay – and speaks such things about Azerbaijan, then he must be only Armenian,” Novruzov highlighted.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan Hikmet Hajiyev said that internal procedures are carried out to verify the information regarding Arif Mammadov’s statements in the social media. If the information is confirmed, Mammadov’s actions cannot adorn a diplomat, it is unacceptable, irresponsible and unprofessional, he added. Remarkably, Hajiyev’s name was also mentioned in Haqqin.az’s list of “national traitors” in the Foreign Office who had liked the notorious Facebook status, regarding which the above-mentioned investigation was initiated.
Arif Mammadov responded to the publications in the local media about him with another Facebook status noting that he was extremely surprised and angered with the huge lava of mud Haqqin.az threw at him just because he had repeated what the Azerbaijani president has been recently speaking about. “To the greatest disappointment of my ‘friends,’ I want to declare that I am pureblood Azerbaijani and I have no other blood. Today it is fashionable to label any decent person with the stamp ‘ermenidir.’ And what could the ‘bright minds,’ who have prepared this fraud, make up. As Azerbaijani ambassador, I once visited the jail with CoE delegation and met Eynulla Fatullayev. His eyes were bewildered and I humanly pitied him. I do not take offense at him. Let God judge him. He is just the executor of the dirty order. I perfectly know those who prepared this,” the diplomat wrote.
Haqqin.az had discovered new “national traitors” in the Foreign Ministry of the country. On the next day after the fire in the new residential building took the lives of 15 people because of the low-quality siding, a top official from the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan, currently the head of the Azerbaijani delegation in the Organization of the Islamic Conference at the European Union, Arif Mammadov, wrote on his Facebook, “This tragedy is every Azerbaijani’s pain and tragedy. No nation will stand this sort of shame and injustice. The officials get millions from the suffering of our people, and if they are not afraid of our people’s anger, let them be afraid of Allah’s anger!” This was what drove him into disgrace. Those who supported the Facebook post also got into “the suspect list.” These are the spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan, Hikmet Hajiyev; Farah Gozalova from the Foreign Ministry; another diplomat, Javid Musayev; Anar Madatli from the Foreign Ministry; and one more top official from the Foreign Ministry, Ramiz Veliyev.
