Azerbaijani Ambassador to Iran hasn't read Ramiz Mehdiyev's book yet but considers Nader Shah to be Iranian shah
The prominent historians around the world recognize Nader Shah as an Iranin shah, the Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Mohsen Pakayin, said, according to the Iranian outlet Jamejamonline.ir.
The head of the Azerbaijani presidential administration Ramiz Mehdiyev’s book “Nader Shah Afshar: diplomacy talks” was recently published in Baku attempting to present Nader Shah as non-Iranian.
“I haven’t read the book yet but what is certain is that the prominent historians around the world recognize Nader Shah as an Iranian shah who founded the Afshar dynasty in Iran. Therefore, publishing such books cannot question the historic facts,” the Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan said.
Sadegh Maleki, Iranian expert on regional issues, recently referred to Azerbaijan’s policy of falsifying and appropriating the Iranian cultural values and historic figures. “Distorting Iran’s history, Azerbaijan tries to make up a history of its own,” he said. “Publishing this kind of books shows that Baku is still far from political maturity. Neither Shah Ismail, nor Nader Shah, nor Nizami Ganjavi can ever belong to Azerbaijan. The above-mentioned people have their peculiar place in the history of Iran,” he added.
