Armenia hosts meeting of WCC Executive Committee
The five-day meeting of the Executive Committee of the World Council of Churches (WCC) started in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin on Monday, chaired by Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II.
The meeting is held in Armenia on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide and co-chairmanship of Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II in the WCC.
According to the Information Services of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, at the beginning of the meeting, the participants observed a minute’s silence in memory of the Armenian Genocide victims.
Catholicos Karekin II said in his remarks that numerous foreign delegations, including spiritual leaders, visited Armenia in 2015 on the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. “We perceive such attitude towards the Armenian Genocide commemoration also as a resoluteness to fight the crimes against humanity,” Karekin II said.
