Armenian PM receives IAEA Regulatory Authority Monitoring Mission Head
Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan received International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Regulatory Authority Monitoring Mission Head Hans Wanner, the government’s press office reports.
Pleased with the current level of cooperation with the IAEA, the Prime Minister noted that Armenia is committed to abiding by its obligations assumed under international agreements, simultaneously improving the national legislation in the field of nuclear safety.
Hans Wanner thanked the Prime Minister for reception and stressed the importance for the Government to consistently perform Armenia’s obligations undertaken in this area.
As the interlocutors discussed issues related to the expansion of cooperation in the field of nuclear safety, Mr Vanner presented the findings and recommendations of his mission regarding the safety regulations associated with the use of nuclear energy in Armenia and the continued compliance with safety standards.
The importance of making continued efforts toward enhancing Armenian nuclear power plant’s safety was emphasized on either side.
The Prime Minister noted that the nuclear power plant’s safety level and safe operations are kept in spotlight and the Government will continue cooperating with the IAEA on this issue.
