Park of Soviet-time sculptures to be created in Gyumri
The sculptures created and installed in the territory of Armenia in the Soviet period and dismantled after Armenia’s independence will be gathered in one place – Cultural Complex of Epochs Solidarity that will be built near the Mother Armenia Memorial in Gyumri, Arthur Gevorgyan, founder of National Park-Museum of Sculpture of Gyumri, told Panorama.am.
“The complex will gather together the sculptures installed in the Soviet time and dismantled in 1991-1994. The complex will include three restoration workshops and an exhibition hall,” he said.
“These sculptures, created through the efforts of our parents and grandparents, represent artistic rather than ideological value,” Gevorgyan noted.
He also said that the 2nd International Sculpture Symposium will be held in Gyumri in the second half of July. This three-week event has been organized by the Cultural Experimental Center NGO with the support of the Gyumri Municipality.
