Armenian candidates for judges presented themselves very well in the European Court of Human Rights. Arpine Hovhannisyan
The Committee on the Election of Judges to the European Court of Human Rights made its decision through a strictly secret procedure and secret ballot. Member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) delegation and member of the Committee on the Election of Judges to the European Court of Human Rights Arpine Hovhannisyan informed Panorama.am about this.
Earlier the Committee on the Election of Judges elected Armen Harutyunyan in the position of the judge representing Armenia in the European Court of Human Rights. Ararat Ghazaryan and Liana Hakobyan were the other two candidates for that position.
Arpine Hovhannisyan said that all the three candidates from Armenia showed high professionalism and excellent knowledge, and they presented the country properly during the 30-40 minute interviews by the Committee. She also noted that the election was made based solely on the interview with the candidates.
The final appointment procedure of the Armenian judge will take place during the upcoming session of PACE when the candidate will be presented to the Assembly for approval.
