Bordyuzha says he never invited Azerbaijan to CSTO
During a press conference at Foreign Ministry today Nikolai Bordyuzha, Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), summarized the results of CSTO statutory bodies’ sittings held in Dushanbe in May and June. He also spoke about the results of a surprise inspection of combat readiness of CSTO rapid reaction forces on May 12-19.
In his words, the measures showed that CSTO rapid reaction forces are capable of withstanding any challenge.
Speaking about the Unbreakable Brotherhood exercises of CSTO scheduled to take place in Armenia on September 30 – October 4, Bordyuzha said that the preparation for the exercises are going on successfully. He expressed confidence that they will be efficient.
When commenting on the possibility of Azerbaijan’s membership in CSTO and the invitation he extended to Baku, N. Bordyuzha said he has never invited Baku to CSTO. He at the same time stressed that he believes that all states should participate in a collective security system.
