Afghan parliament under attack in Kabul
Multiple explosions have taken place around the Afghan parliament in the capital Kabul.
A security official told Reuters gunfire was also heard outside the building. Live television footage showed lawmakers being evacuated amid smoke.
It is not immediately clear what has caused the blast or whether there are any casualties.
Local media report another explosion in the Dahmazang area of Kabul city.
The candidate for the Afghan defence ministry, Massoum Stanikzai was scheduled to go to Parliament on a vote of confidence today, says the BBC's Waheed Massoud, in Kabul.
