Deputy minister: Armenia switches to digital broadcasting in 2016
The National Assembly of Armenia continued its work today, on June 22.
During debates of the draft amendments to the Law on Television and Radio, Deputy Minister of Transport and Communication Arthur Arakelyan announced that the date of Armenia’s switch from analog to digital television has been postponed from July 1, 2015 to January 16, 2016.
“The main reason is related to the program’s social component: provision of digital TV receivers by the state to vulnerable sections of the population. The tender to purchase such receivers did not take place so we extend the term,” he said.
