Armenian Health Ministry releases updated information on those injured in Bagramian Avenue events in Yerevan
15 people sought in-patient treatment after the events that took place on Bagramian Avenue in Yerevan early in the morning June 23. 13 of them applied to Surb Grigor Lusavorich Medical Center, and two applied to ‘Armenia’ Republican Medical Center.
7 people suffered scratches and minor injuries and are currently receiving treatment at hospital , the press service of Armenian Health Ministry reports.
According to information, one person who applied to ‘Armenia’ Medical Center had a brain injury. He underwent computed tomography, with no serious problems found. Another injured person also underwent examinations. Both were offered to receive treatment at hospital, but they declined.
As was reported, early Tuesday, June 23, the police used water cannons to disperse demonstrators who blocked the central Bagramian Avenue in Yerevan to protest a rise in power tariffs. Prior to that, the police told demonstrators to leave Bagramian Avenue and return to Liberty Square so that traffic could resume. Over 200 people, including reporters, were taken to police stations. 25 people sought emergency first aid, the press service of Health Ministry reported. Following the events on Bagramian Avenue, the Office of Armenian Prosecutor General opened a criminal case under the article ‘hooliganism’.
