Armenian judo wrestlers to compete in Baku European Games from June 25
The members of Armenia’s national judo team and their coaches traveled to Baku today, on June 23, for participation in the First European Games.
The Armenian delegation is made up of wrestlers Hovhannes Davtyan, David Nikoghosyan and Zhanna Stankevich. The head coach is Tigran Babayan, Secretary General of Armenia’s Judo Federation David Khitaryan said.
The judo matches are scheduled to start on June 25.
Baku hosts the First European Games on June 12-28. The Games will cost Azerbaijan’s population $10 billion, according to media estimates. Yet the Games were accompanied by numerous bans and demolition of homes and became a headache for local residents . The preparations for the Baku Games also involved repressions and crackdown on dissent.
