Armenian Prosecutor General Office files reports on journalistic activity obstruction to Special Investigation Service
Media reports, videos, and a letter by Arthur Sakunts, Director of Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor Office, about instances of obstruction of journalistic activity during the events on Bagramian Avenue in Yerevan on the night of June 23 were filed to Armenia’s Special Investigation Service by the Department for Cases of Particular Importance of Armenian Prosecutor General’s Office, Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.
In an interview to GALA TV yesterday on June 23, Armenian Police Chief Vladimir Gasparyan apologized for law enforcers’ actions against media representative during the events on Bagramian Avenue early in the morning, June 23. He said an official investigation will promptly shed light on what happened.
“There are certain flaws that I have seen in our work, especially with regards to the media reporters. I apologize for that. We have launched an official investigation and we will manage that. I am aware that certain technical equipment was broken, and the police will reimburse the material losses incurred by the journalists”, - said Police Chief said.
