The existing situation in Armenia should be resolved through dialog, French Ambassador to Armenia Jean-Francois Charpentier said referring to the ongoing rally in Yerevan against a rise in electricity tariffs.

He told a press conference today that an economically viable solution acceptable to all the sides needs to be found since the economy is an important factor.

“The matter concerns Armenia’s internal life. We are not in the habit of making comments about the domestic policy of another sovereign state. We don’t reserve that right,” the ambassador said.

He at the same time stressed that they are following the current processes in Armenia. These events fit into the general logic of democratic processes, the French ambassador added.

“It is normal for people to make their demands. It is also quite natural that the government, the authorities are trying to restore the public order,” Ambassador Charpentier said.
