Woman shot by husband in Yerevan maternity hospital remains in critical condition
The woman who was shot and wounded by her husband in a Yerevan maternity hospital earlier today is in critical condition, Director of ‘Armenia’ Medical Center in Yerevan Arsen Grigoryan told reporters today.
The tragic incident occurred early Tuesday, June 30, at Yerevan Center of Perinatology, Obstetrics and Gynecology (the maternity home of Republican Hospital). A man entered the ward of his wife who has just given birth to a baby. He shot at her and then committed suicide. The woman was urgently taken to ‘Armenia’ Medical Center for all necessary examinations.
The woman, a resident of Armenia’s Ararat province, gave birth by C-section, Arsen Grigoryan said. “She received numerous gunshot wounds –according to preliminary information - three wounds in the neck, shoulder, and the back of her head,” he said adding that the baby was not in the ward at the time of the incident. She is now in a neurosurgical operating room, Grigoryan told reporters.
