Andreas Lubitz: Germanwings co-pilot buried in his hometown three months after killing 149 in French Alps
Killer Germanwings pilot Andreas Lubitz has been quietly buried in his hometown of Montabaur, Standard.co.uk reported. Lubitz, 27, locked out the pilot of the Airbus jet he was co-piloting on March 24 this year out of the cockpit so he could crash the plane into a mountainside.
He along with 149 passengers and crew members died when the aircraft hit a French Alpine mountainside at high speed. There were no survivors.
In the days and weeks following the tragedy it was discovered Lubitz had been battling depression for years, taking vast quantities of anti-depressant drugs and visiting numerous doctors.
Lubitz, who first learned to fly at the gliding club in his hometown in southwestern Germany, has been quietly buried by his shattered parents.
It is not clear whether his fiancée, with whom he shared a flat in Dusseldorf, was present at the ceremony.
