EEU is a unique and already successful union. Statement by EEC minister Ara Nranyan
At the economic forum held by the Armenian government in Yerevan yesterday, on June 30, Eurasian Economic Commission’s (EEC) Collegium member (Minister) Ara Nranyan stated the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) is a union that has good prospects, the press service of EEC reported.
The forum was attended by Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, officials of ministries and departments, MPs, members of Armenian scientific and expert circles.
Ara Nranyan said in his speech: “The EEU is a unique and already successful integration union”. In his words, the question about whether the EEU would be a success ceased to be topical long ago. Moreover, too much pessimism may only hinder efficient activities of the economies of the member states.
The EEC minister cited examples of integration processes and advantages provided by the Eurasian Economic Union. He stressed that no integration union has so far given those privileges and opportunities that Armenian citizens and business community members in EEU have received.
“The integration is a step-by-step process, and it is impossible to ensure solution of all problems over a short period of time. But it is a path that we all have to follow. All regional countries, including EEU member states, are now facing certain economic difficulties. The depreciation of national currencies and a decline in consumer demand cannot but affect economic activities. But crisis phenomena are typical of a modern economy and we should be prepared to overcome them,” Ara Nranyan said.
