Demonstrator who sew his mouth shut has stitches removed
A man who sew his mouth shut in protest against a rise in electricity tariffs was taken by ambulance to the Surb Grigor Lusavorich medical center from Yerevan’s Liberty Square.
‘The young man had his stiches removed and left the hospital. The activist feels fine,” Panorama.am learned from hospital staff.
Hovhannes Karapetyan – a participant in the rally against the power tariff hike – sew his mouth shut in Liberty Square of Yerevan last night. Today the activist heeded the calls of his friends and agreed to go to hospital to have his stitches undone.
The Armenian police yesterday, on July 6 cleared the barricades of trash containers that protesters against the power tariff hike placed across Bagramyan Avenue in downtown Yerevan. The traffic on the avenue has resumed. Dozens were detained and set free shortly afterwards.
