S. Harutyunyan: Golden Apricot Festival continues cooperation with foreign embassies in Armenia
This year too, the Golden Apricot 12th International Film Festival will cooperate with foreign embassies in Armenia, such as the embassies of France, Germany, Poland and Russia, the Festival’s Artistic Director Susanna Harutyunyan told a press conference today.
The Golden Apricot provides Armenian audiences with a good opportunity to familiarize themselves with new films of world cinema, French Ambassador to Armenia Jean-Francois Charpentier said.
“It is really praiseworthy that 180 films from nearly 60 have been presented, including films dedicated to the Armenian Genocide, the centenary of which is commemorated this year,” he said noting that French film director of Armenian descent Robert Guiediguian will be the president of the jury of the Golden Apricot Festival this year and his film “Don’t Tell Me The Boy was Mad” will open the festival.
Cultural attaché of German embassy in Armenia Annemary Kulumann said that over 20 German films are participating in the 2015 Golden Apricot. “Thank you for the opportunity to present German subjects to Armenian viewers,” she said.
Among the participants will also be reporters and film critics from Russia, which will help raise awareness of the film festival in Russia.
A Day of Polish Cinema is expected to be held as part of the Golden Apricot Film Festival, which will run from July 12 to July 19.
