Krmoyan: Armenian specialists will learn from probation service experience in Georgia
Standard documents are now being developed as part of the introduction of the probation service in Armenia.
“We are developing the respective tools for assessment of convicted persons’ behavior and risks and we are trying to introduce them in test sites,” Armenian Deputy Justice Minister Suren Krmoyan told reporters today.
The heads of test sites and the pilot program and an official of Justice Ministry will make a business trip to Georgia in the next few days, Krmoyan said. “In Georgia our specialists will learn in practice how the established probation service works. Meanwhile we try to equip the test sites with the relevant tools, knowledge, and document types. It is hard to work without legal regulation and for this reason we lay emphasis on those functions in the test sites that can be performed under the laws in force”.
As reported, the pilot probation service program was officially launched in Armenia on June 17.
