Armenian PM to receive on Monday residents of Yerevan’s 33rd district Firdusi
Armenian Minister of Urban Development Narek Sargsyan met earlier today with residents of areas alienated under a redevelopment project of the 33rd district ‘Firdusi’ in Yerevan. A group of residents of Firdusi gathered outside the Armenian government to stage a protest.
The minister told the demonstrators that Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan is prepared to meet with them at 6 pm on Monday to hear their complaints. N. Sargsyan advised them to clearly formulate their problems, compensation-related demands, and terms.
The protesters said they formulated their demands long ago and the prime minister is familiar with their problems. The minister reiterated that the head of government would receive them on Monday.
The residents of the indicated residential areas blocked earlier today a section of Tigran Mets Avenue leading to Republic Square. They demand compensation and a meeting with Armenian prime minister. Deputy Chief of Yerevan Police Valery Osipyan talked with the protesters . He persuaded them to move to the government building.
