Investigators and advocates meet in Chamber of Advocates to discuss peculiarities of probation service
As part of the project “Support to the Establishment of Probation Service in Armenia’, a media workshop for advocates and investigators was held on July 8 in Armenian Chamber of Advocates.
In his opening remarks, Armenian Deputy Justice Minister Suren Krmoyan highlighted the importance of introducing the probation service in Armenia. A local expert – First Deputy Head of the Chamber of Advocates Arthur Hovhannisyan informed those present of the problems of the probation service, the main provisions, and the draft legal acts developed based on the concept, according to the press service of Chamber of Advocates.
Arthur Hovhannisyan spoke about efficiency of probation, the structure of the service, and its operation in various stages such as pre-trial, trial, punishment infliction, and post-punishment stages.
The peculiarities of juvenile probation practices were also discussed. International expert Christopher Frost spoke about the role of the legal system with regard to practices, while the functions of the service were addressed in the speech of Andy Bernhardt.
