Spanish air traffic controllers plan two strikes for July
Travellers to Spain face disruption this month with two strikes planned by Air Traffic Controllers. Industrial action is planned for this weekend (11 – 12 July) and for the weekend of July 25-26, according to Buyingbusinesstravel.com.
The strike action is over a long-running dispute which goes back to 2010 and the dismissal of a controller in Santiago de Compostela for his role in wildcat strikes of that year. Easyjet said like all airlines operating flights to Spain if action goes ahead expect to see an impact on services during the strike period.
“We would like to assure our passengers that we are preparing for any disruption if the strike does proceed and will do everything possible to limit the inconvenience of this on your journey,” it said in a statement.
Spanish air traffic control service Enaire expects to operate 80 per cent of services during the strike periods while talks continue with the USCA controllers’ union.
