Ambassador: Iran should build railway to Armenian border to ensure link between Persian Gulf and Black Sea regions
Armenia aims to ensure a link between regions of the Persian Gulf and the Black Sea, Georgia, Armenian Ambassador to Iran Artashes Tumanyan, told the Iranian magazine Donyaye Eqtesad.
He underlined the importance of developing infrastructure by pointing out the ongoing joint projects in the area such as the construction of two hydropower plants on Araks River, one of them located in Armenia and the other in Iran.
The ambassador also spoke about the importance of communication infrastructure, the gas pipeline, and construction of North-South Highway expected to link the Armenian-Iranian border and the Armenian-Georgian frontier. He said that for efficient implementation of that project, a 60-km railway towards the Armenian border should be built in Iranian territory.
