Defense minister of Armenia: Border situation is under control
The border situation is under control now, Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan told reporters today as he arrived at the Republican Central Assembly Station.
“The military service is currently organized in a safer and more intelligent way thanks to smart actions of commanders, servicemen on frontline positions, and junior officers. Our servicemen on the line of contact are unbending and have high morale. Sniper shots get an adequate response, but no response is usually given to desultory fire. Mechanisms of deterrence have been set up through appropriate measures and performance of combat tasks so that we could do our best to respect the ceasefire,” S. Ohanyan said.
To remind, Defense Ministry of Nagorno Karabakh issued a statement yesterday saying that in contrast to the situation in the last few day, Azerbaijan began to violate the ceasefire more frequently on the line of contact between the armed forces of Karabakh and Azerbaijan and on July 14 used 60 mm mortars in the southern direction, in additions to small arms.
Defense Ministry of Karabakh reported today that the Azerbaijani armed forces have recently intensified training flights that are conducted 10-15 kilometers away from the line of contact.
