Russian IC hands over 9 volumes of Avetisyan family murder case to Investigative Committee of Armenia
9 volumes of the criminal case on the mass murder of the Avetisyan family in Gyumri have been handed over today to Armenia’s Investigative Committee (IC), the press service of IC of Armenia said noting the joint work of Russian and Armenian investigators and discussions in Yerevan and Gyumri preceded the handover of the case.
The IC’s Main Department for Cases of Particular Importance has already filed the received materials for translation.
As was reported, the press service of Armenian Prosecutor General’s Office said earlier that after long negotiations between the prosecutor offices of Armenia and Russia, a decision was made to transfer the investigation into the Avetisyan family murder case by Russian law enforcers to Armenian colleagues. Armenian Prosecutor General Gevorg Kostanyan met with Russian counterpart Yuri Chayka and Chairman of Russian Constitutional Court Valery Zorkin. ‘As a result, a legal decision was made to transfer the investigation of the murder case from Russian investigative bodies to Armenian law enforcers,” the statement of Armenian prosecutor’s office said at that time.
