Thousands without power after storms batter Poland
Over 17,500 households were still without electricity on Sunday morning after violent storms raged across parts of Poland.
Altogether, some 88,000 homes suffered due to power line failures throughout the night.
The worst affected regions were the southern Silesia province, as well as the central Łódź and Masovia provinces.
Fire brigades were called into action in nearly a thousand emergency cases over the last 24 hours, spokesman for the National Firefighting Service, Paweł Frątczak told Polish Radio.
Frątczak added that the sudden gale force winds and abrupt downpours tore off roofs from buildings, severely damaging 58.
