Armenian president hopes for speedy resolution of friendly Greece’s debt crisis
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan received today President of the European Council Donald Tusk who is in Yerevan as part of his regional trip, according to the presidential press service.
The bilateral talks were followed by a joint press conference, during which Serzh Sargsyan and Donald Tusk made statements and responded to questions of journalists.
During talks the interlocutors addressed Armenia-EU relations and current cooperation, and the negotiations on a settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh problem.
Regional problems were also discussed. President Sargsyan hailed Iran’s nuclear agreement.
When speaking about the progress made so far in Greece’s debt crisis through hard negotiations, Serzh Sargsyan expressed hope that the problem will be solved as soon as possible, with an option acceptable to the sides. He stressed that Armenia is interested in stability in the territory of the European Union – an important partner of Armenia, as well as in normal development of Greece, a centuries-old friend of Armenia.
Donald Tusk said he is glad that a process of constitutional reforms was initiated in Armenia in accordance with the law. He asked S. Sargsyan to present the aim of reforms and his assessment of that process.
At the press conference Serzh Sargsyan and Donald Tusk summarized the subjects discussed during the talks.
