Asatryan: In Armenia 2016 will become a year of equal opportunities and solution of problems of people with disabilities
There are plans to declare 2016 a year of equal opportunities and solution of problems of people with disabilities in Armenia, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Atyom Asatryan said during a briefing today.
Artyom Asatryan conducted today a sitting of the National Commission for the Solution of Problems of the Disabled. The participants discussed issues relating to the implementation of the annual program on social protection of handicapped people. The results of work done to specify the legal status of social enterprises were also considered.
“Considerable work has been done in recent years in this sense. A shift was made to solution of systemic problems,’ the labor minister said noting that ensuring access for people with disabilities should not be optional, but shall become a mandatory requirement in implementing various programs, projects or measures in all areas.
He said the corresponding state agencies were instructed to take steps aimed at ensuring access for disabled people.
