Spokesman for Karabakh’s president: Increased activity of Azerbaijani troops is quite a regular occurrence
There is nothing unusual about the frequent ceasefire violations committed by Azerbaijani troops in recent days along the line of contact between the armed forces of Karabakh and Azerbaijan, it is quite a regular occurrence, David Babayan - the spokesman for the president of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic – said in interview with Panorama.am when commenting on reports from the frontline.
“It is Azerbaijan’s lifestyle, their typical behavior. They become especially active during regional visits of the Co-chairs (of the OSCE Minsk Group – editor), immediately before and after important meetings. It is already predictable, and I don’t consider it as an unusual event. Unfortunately, it is the essence of the enemy,” Babayan said.
When asked if the increased activity of the Azerbaijani side recently was due to the statements about the need to intensify negotiations on a settlement of the Karabakh conflict, David Babayan replied: “The enemy behaves in a destructive manner even when no such statements are made, which, for example, happened in July-August of last year”.
According to him, ceasefire violations by Azerbaijani forces also become more frequent during regional visits paid by diplomats and politicians with international influence.
D. Babayan stressed that Azerbaijan has pursued such a policy for years, and one does not find that policy surprising after becoming familiar with it.
