Armenian frontier guards release Azerbaijani border violators after explanatory talk
Armenian frontier guards have released two Azerbaijanis who illegally crossed the border. The frontier guards detained the Azerbaijanis (residents of Georgia) who intended to have a swim in the river and accidentally crossed into Armenian territory, Eldar Mamedov, an official of Georgian border village of Sadakhlo, was reported as saying by Sputnik Georgia news agency.
Residents of Marneuli region Shakhin and Nadik Bediyev were detained on July 21 for illegal border violation.
“They crossed the border by accident. They were detained by Armenian frontier guards who had a talk with them. They were released after a phone call of Georgian frontier guards. No fine was imposed on them,” Memedov told Rustavi-2 TV Company.
The Bedievds were handed over to the Georgian side on the same day.
