Newly-built ‘Bagratashen’ checkpoint to be put into operation in first quarter of 2016
Prior to his working visit to Georgia, Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan traveled to the Bagratashen border-crossing checkpoint. He familiarized himself with the construction work. Construction of the checkpoint’s five buildings, interior and exterior decoration work, and installation of cables is underway, the government press service said.
Officials reported that most of the work is already completed, and the newly-built checkpoint will be put into operation by the deadline – in the first quarter of next year.
The new building will be equipped with modern equipment to shorten the time of procedures.
Speaking to reporters, PM Abrahamyan attached importance to the project implementation. He said a checkpoint in line with international standards will be set up to create favorable conditions for citizens and business entities.
The construction of Friendship Bridge near the border checkpoint was also discussed. A tender for construction is expected to be conducted this year.
